The Manager of Business Analytics is accountable for the strategy, execution, and support of National Marrow Donor Program’s (NMDP) business analytics solutions. The role is responsible for leading the Business Analytics team in the design, development, and delivery of critical data insights, operational intelligence, and advanced analytics. This person will help set the vision for the team function, advancing internal processes, and partnering closely with stakeholders to deliver proactive, value-add business insights focused on vertical business performance.

  • Provides thought leadership and strategic mindshare to define and build the enterprise business analytics strategy and vision
  • Creates and maintains a solid understanding of the analytics industry – key advancements, emerging trends, and challenges in the space
  • Partners with Data Governance to ensure best practices are being well managed and adhered to – be a champion for the organization and promote data stewardship
  • Partners closely with leaders of shared services and business verticals to deliver value add insights to inform future business planning, solve problems, increase efficiencies, and save more lives
  • Develop a deep understanding of available data to drive analysis and answer questions – prepare and champion business cases to expand data sets including 3rd party data assets
  • Establish and grow a data science practice including methodology, best practices, and engagement model that delivers material outcomes including predictive models
  • Promote a wide range of analytics techniques such as data aggregation, mining, profiling, statistics, forecasting, and predictive analytics to identify and analyze trends or patterns
  • Deliver varying analyses, key insights, and recommendation through compelling visualizations to support key customers across the entire value chain while cultivating a data driven culture
  • Oversee and enhance centralized intake and prioritization channels; ensures robust and effective processes are in place cultivating strong partnerships
  • Identifies opportunities for increased efficiencies. Designs and leads process and technology improvements to optimize efficiency and performance of the team

Leading People:

  • Directly supervises ~7 Business Analytics team members in all day-to-day activities to ensure the timely delivery and consistent quality
  • Hires, trains, mentors, supervises, and evaluates the performance of staff
  • Analyzes strengths and growth opportunities in staff and creates environment of continual learning and growth using short and long-term goal setting
  • Fosters a strong performance culture; continually assesses engagement levels and devises actionable retention plans
  • Manages and leads 3rd party, contractor or offshore team members when needed


  • Extensive experience in leveraging statistical models to identify patterns and trends; expertise and/or demonstrated experience with business analytics tools such as SAS or R
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices, including proficiency in SQL
  • Data visualization and dashboarding experience using Tableau, Looker, or similar
  • Manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources including collecting, assembling data, cleansing, formatting, and validation of results
  • Establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies, and track and measure results
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Effectively write, present, and communicate analytics results with recommendations to leadership across the organization
  • Demonstrate a high degree of both technical and business aptitude
  • Demonstrate superior analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Build, lead, and motivate high performance teams


  • 6+ years of IT/Analytics experience, including at least 3 years of direct people management and leadership experience
  • 3+ years professional hands-on experience translating analytics including statistical modeling, data mining, and predictive modeling/forecasting into actionable insights
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent experience; MBA desired
