Description Summary
The Business Analytics Analyst will be a key member of the Customer, Digital, and Marketing Analytics team. This position will apply data-mining, statistical, and advanced modeling techniques to a variety of data to enhance our understanding of our customers the effectiveness of marketing initiatives as well as the performance of the digital channels. The analyst will be a part of identifying and understanding the business challenges and opportunities faced by the Marketing, Digital Channel, Loyalty departments as well as other business units at Carlson Rezidor.
Job Description

Problem Solving:

Accurately identify and assess problems by asking the right questions of the right people.
Use analytical problem-solving techniques to resolve issues and questions.
Conduct risk assessment and offer options when possible to stakeholders.
Form hypothesis and run experiments / analyses to gain empirical insights and validate hypothesis
Subject Matter Expert:

Understand and articulate complex mathematical and computational learning concepts.
Interpret data and identify correlations using both univariate and multivariate analysis.
Identify opportunities to build statistical models, customized segmentation schemes, and create forecasts
Develop customized and predictive models to enhance business processes incorporating business and operational goals, as well as market conditions.
Participate in projects requiring advanced statistical analyses, innovative research, mathematical calculations, and technical skills.
Participate in the design of new initiatives that require test and measurement before full implementation, and apply acceptable statistical techniques to ensure tests are properly conducted.
Write SQL queries, procedures, scripts using TOAD, DB Visualizer, or other query tools.
Apply descriptive statistical concepts to solve business problems
Present findings to business areas and convey recommendations and options.

Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Computer Science, or related field) required, Master’s Degree preferred
1-3 years work experience; Advanced Degree may be substituted for work experience
Demonstrated experience performing statistical analysis on large, complex datasets
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, most importantly Excel and Power Point
Proficient with SQL
Proficient with R and/or Alteryx
Experience working with Tableau and other BI tools preferred
Experience working with Adobe Omniture, Google Analytics or similar tools a plus
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
Demonstrated ability to explain complex analytical and statistical techniques to a wider audience
Proven track record of self-motivation and independent discretion
Strong intellectual curiosity; a willingness to ask questions and learn from others
