Position Summary:

  • Lead, build and develop a team that provides strategic, qualitative, and quantitative support across the Twins business operations, leveraging a wide variety of data sources to inform recommendations
  • Define the vision, goals and objectives for the business strategy, consumer insights and advanced analytics capability; ensure stakeholder alignment on priorities, implementation and management
  • Drive innovation in current and future analytics practices and methodologies, working closing with other technical and internal leaders
  • Develop the ownership, stewardship, operational structure, oversight and engagement of stakeholder participation required to manage business strategy and advanced analytics capability
  • Design and develop analytics, data modeling and actionable insights capabilities. Bring new thinking into the team and be able to define, validate and oversee development of operational metrics based on business goals and objectives. Be able to speak the language of both business and technology
  • Influence and assist in shaping the business dialogue across a range of business areas including pricing, product development, growth, marketing, and general business performance. Translate complex data driven analysis into simple to understand business language
  • Stay abreast of the continually changing, fast-paced world of analytics and proactively bring best in class capabilities to the Twins organization. This will require not only making a case for change but managing the change itself
  • Provide appropriate, effective mentoring, coaching and feedback to staff members throughout the organization. Attract, develop and retain top talent
  • Work with peers across multiple business units to define project prioritization and provide guidance on large-scale analytics initiatives
  • Collaborate and liaison with Major League Baseball and industry peers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the business strategy, consumer research and insights, and analysis initiatives for the Twins organization
  • Work closely with appropriate Twins stakeholders to develop vision, strategy, goals, and objectives for the Business Strategy and Analytics team
  • Lead efforts to develop advanced predictive models to increase revenue through predictive buying, cross sell / upsell and renewal forecasting
  • Oversee ongoing analysis of marketing investments and ROIs for product, category and audience segmentation performance across all channels
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new reporting, analytics, and research methodologies and best practices;
    design innovative strategic service offerings and approaches that will demonstrate value and deliver business results
  • Provide strategic solutions and make continuous improvement recommendations to optimize programmatic and database marketing initiatives, communication and promotions across all segments/channels
  • Develop improved ROI measurements, channel analytics, and reporting
  • Oversee segmentation and predictive model development for better consumer behavior insight and targeting
  • Interpret multiple data sources for insights to inform strategic planning and tactics to drive the business
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental leaders to translate data into actionable consumer stories and strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Lead effort to bridge the knowledge and skill gap between BSAT resources and department leaders
  • Identify and test growth/efficiency opportunities that can differentiate our product in the market place and enable long term growth
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in tools, technology and analytical methods among the BSAT; actively mentor team members focused on modeling, reporting, and campaign management


The VP of Business Strategy & Analytics will be the key business partner to help support data driven decision-making, insights discovery, and strategy refinement for the organization. The candidate must exhibit strong, strategic thought leadership attributes, with ability to integrate industry trends, consumer preferences and internal capabilities. The VP must have a proven record of decision-making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation.

  • Minimum BA / BS (Master’s degree a strong plus) in a relevant field (Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing, Business Administration, etc.)
  • 8+ years’ experience in leveraging data to drive better business decision making through the use of modeling and technological techniques
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a management / leadership capacity
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals
  • Competency in key skill areas of financial modeling, analytics and business analysis
  • Proven predictive modeling skills and experience building analytics teams, including integrating with other business units to ensure analytics approach is aligned with the business strategy and available data
  • Expertise selecting appropriate data storage, modeling, analysis, market research and reporting techniques; experience with factor analysis, regression/logistic regression, conjoint analysis, surveying, and qualitative research tools such as focus groups and ethnographies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to communicate to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Results-oriented leadership and facilitation capabilities – strong leader who can work with multiple stakeholders to develop and execute strategy while being able to manage day-to-day tactical activities
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move towards consensus
