We are proud to announce two more of our 2021 MinneAnalytics Scholarship recipients: David McGowan of St. Olaf College, and Gabrielle Koepke of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Each student selected has displayed a passion for pursuing a career related to data science and a commitment to engaging with the community.
David McGowan is a first-generation student and a junior at St. Olaf College, majoring in mathematics with a concentration in statistics and data science. He is passionate about the power, utility, and necessity of data analysis, and he plans to attend graduate school in either statistics or biostatistics. David has conducted research on the impact of international anti-piracy legislation and on gender disparities among professional orchestras. He has also served as a teaching assistant for math and data science courses and sings in the St. Olaf Choir.
Gabrielle Koepke is a rising senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in engineering with an electrical engineering focus at Minnesota State University, Mankato. As an engineer, she plans to reimagine the experience that people have with cloud storage services by optimizing the infrastructure behind the cloud and advancing new systems and procedures to make it more powerful, flexible, and reliable for users. She recently worked on a project embedding machine learning tools in Excel. Gabrielle is currently completing an engineering internship with Amazon Web Services.
