The Berwyn Group is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Data Strategy and Analytics Director to lead a high-performing team responsible for building and maintaining our best-in-class data assets, measuring and reporting our performance, and conducting advanced analytics to inform product development and market positioning. Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Product Officer, you will drive the development and implementation of a unified data strategy with a team of strategists, analysts, scientists, and operators to execute that strategy. You’ll ensure the team delivers impactful insights and advanced analytics that drive strategic business decisions. This is a highly collaborative role requiring cross-functional leadership, strong vendor and stakeholder management, and a sharp understanding of how data drives innovation and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee the management of internal and external data assets, including the evaluation, acquisition, and maintenance of third-party data sources in alignment with business goals and evolving data needs.
- Lead negotiations and relationships with external data vendors, ensuring cost-efficiency and high-quality data coverage.
- Guide a multidisciplinary team across reporting, analytics, and data science to execute strategy and deliver business value.
- Partner with executive leadership to ensure initiatives support key outcomes in product, marketing, operations, and other commercial functions.
- Build a culture of continuous and meticulous drive to improve data coverage, quality, and value.
- Ensure clear, cross-functional dissemination of reports and analytical insights to leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Guide the build of reports and processes to monitor product performance, business results, data quality and coverage.
- Direct the development of scalable reporting systems and business intelligence tools that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Ensure the team delivers accessible, actionable reporting for tracking performance, KPIs, and strategic initiatives.
Analytics & Insight Generation
- Lead the team in conducting analyses to uncover key insights around product performance, customer behavior, and market trends to inform product development initiatives.
- Direct evaluation of internal performance data to uncover insights that strengthen positioning, messaging, and category leadership.
- Oversee the translation of analytical findings into strategic recommendations and partner with stakeholders to drive implementation.
Advanced Analytics & Data Science
- Oversee development and implementation of statistical models and algorithms that power core features of our service product.
- Guide advanced data analytics and statistical models to discover new applications of our data and inform product development.
- Foster collaboration between data science, engineering, and product teams to build and deploy data-driven features and capabilities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in data strategy, analytics, or data leadership roles, with at least 3 years managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional data initiatives and drive measurable business impact.
- Experience managing third-party data partnerships and navigating complex vendor negotiations.
- Strong technical acumen with familiarity in tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in a data-intensive industry such as financial services, market intelligence, retail, or healthcare.
- Familiarity with data licensing, regulatory compliance, and data privacy frameworks.
