The first MinneFAIR: Careers in Data Day was Oct. 12 in Eden Prairie, giving up-and-coming data science professionals the opportunity to meet with hiring professionals in a meaningful way. Student and recent graduate registration sold out quickly for the event, which featured representatives from nearly 40 organizations.
“This event was designed to give organizations the maximum amount of exposure to the fabulous data science talent we are growing here in Minnesota and our surrounding states,” said event co-organizer Kate Bischoff. “It was an excellent showcase for the colleges and universities MinneAnalytics partners with to make sure we’re growing hometown talent with skills to succeed in real-world environments.”
MinneFAIR also featured a panel discussion with analytics professionals from the community. Panelists shared their insights and experiences in the field, as well as answering questions from students and recent graduates.
“It was cool to see the community willing to take time out of their day to give back in that way,” said event co-organizer Josh Berger. “The group had different backgrounds and levels of experience, and it was a great opportunity for students to ask questions.”
MinneAnalytics has plans to continue connecting data science talent with hiring professionals in the future, including a job fair at the upcoming MinneFRAMA conference on Dec. 3. Hiring organizations can register to participate here using the “Recruiter” registration option.
