New U of M Graduate Program: Data Science in Multi-Messenger Astrophysics

Considering graduate school in data science? Looking for a program that will equip you to succeed in both academia and industry? Statistics, physics, astrophysics, data science, computer science and engineering, and electrical and computer engineering graduate programs at the University of Minnesota are teaming up with the National Science Foundation to offer exciting interdisciplinary training opportunities in data science and multi-messenger astrophysics.

The NSF-supported graduate program in Data Science in Multi-Messenger Astrophysics is designed to educate students in modern data science techniques using the field of multi-messenger astrophysics as a training ground. Students will have opportunities to directly contribute to cutting-edge astrophysics research, while at the same time gaining experience in working with large databases, advanced statistical techniques, and machine learning algorithms. Those enrolled in this program receive a minor in data science in astrophysics (in addition to their major MS or PhD) and have opportunities to participate in technical and professional training workshops and various outreach activities. Anyone applying for a PhD or MS program at the University of Minnesota is eligible to apply.
